Our Journey : How It All Began
Leanne’s Rusks began as a small family business in a farm kitchen in 2001. As demand grew, so did we - moving into larger premises, with our bakery now proudly based in George in the heart of the Garden Route.
We believe a personal touch is key to our success, crafting artisanal rusks known for their exceptional quality, stylish packaging, great taste, and perfect crunch. Our range has expanded to include traditional crunchies, with more exciting additions on the way. We remain committed to supporting local suppliers and are known for our reliable service and speedy delivery.
Leanne’s Rusks are distributed to private clients, guesthouses, coffee shops, and retail outlets. Our customers include SSK Stores, SPAR and SUPERSPAR, New Harvest Stores, as well as many independent local retailers. While our core distribution is in the Southern Cape, we supply stores across South Africa and serve hundreds of clients through our online store.
In 2015, Leanne’s Rusks transitioned from a sole proprietorship to a registered company, Leanne’s Rusks (Pty) Ltd. After years of steady growth and brand development, we made the strategic decision to expand further. In July 2022, we merged with Lumarco Food Distributors (Pty) Ltd, an FSSC 22000-accredited company. This partnership has enabled us to broaden our product range and better serve our customers. Today, Lumarco Food Distributors (Pty) Ltd proudly stands as the "Home of Leanne’s Rusks".
From humble beginnings in a farm kitchen, we have grown into a fully equipped bakery. Our team includes six permanent staff members, supported by casual workers and sales representatives. We believe that when our team is happy, it reflects in the quality of our products - ensuring our customers consistently receive the very best.
